What Happens If I Run Out Of Things To Blog About?

Updated: Jul 18, 2019

blog

Like clockwork, I publish an Edit This® blog post every Thursday morning. And, usually, I've already jotted down notes for the following week's post a few hours later.

I am vigilant with my company blog posts because:

1. I enjoy writing them.

2. They keep me visible online.

3. I like to think my regular readers have come to expect them.

I preach to my clients the benefits of staying consistent with their blog schedule (whatever that looks like for them), but one question I get asked is: "What happens if I run out of things to blog about?"

It's a valid question. The well has to run dry at some point, right?

My humble opinion as your friendly, neighborhood writer and editor is that we as small-business owners should never run out of things to blog about. Here's why.

There's an endless supply of blog topics out there

There are blog idea generators and countless blogs about blog ideas (here's one with 20 ideas for writers) that prove you can start a blog for your business today and have enough prompts to last you a few years. On top of that, the beauty about blogs is that they are meant to be conversational in nature – a tool to connect and build relationships with current and future clients on a deeper level than just peddling products and services.

In my blog posts, I write about my career, the writing and editing industry in general, my family, and even the relationships and daily interactions I have with clients.

I show my personality, passion, and heart – what you read is what you get in real life. And it all makes for endless content ideas.

I believe business owners should do the same thing to help themselves and their blog stand out from the crowd. And trust me, you won't run out of things to blog about.
