Steve is a lover of all things "words." He prides himself on being the best possible storyteller for his clients, and he regularly partners with other writers and editors who share the same mindset and want to be part of a growing brand. A writer with more than 25 years of experience, he got his big break in 1997 when he was hired as a sportswriter for the Lewisville News. From there, he went on to work for the Dallas Morning News before joining Allen Publishing Company in 2004. He has since moved on to write for such entities as the Denton Record-Chronicle and various local magazines.

Steve has been recognized by the Associated Press Sports Editors and Texas Associated Press Managing Editors for articles he's written. Edit This® was voted Best Writing & Editing Service by Best of Denton County in 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Steve graduated from the University of North Texas with a BA in Broadcast Journalism and lives in Denton with his wife, Leslie, and sons, Christian (17) and Jackson (13).

A Team Approach

Writing has always been in my blood, but as many people will tell you, it doesn't always pay much. When you are married and then have two small boys, taking a leap of faith and following your heart doesn't always seem like the most prudent choice. But that's what I decided to do with Edit This®, and it was the best decision I ever made in my professional life. With the support of my lovely bride, Leslie, and countless friends and family members, I decided to take that leap of faith and created Edit This® in 2014.

My vision for Edit This® is to provide writing and editing services to businesses and individuals while continuing to work as a journalist for area publications. More importantly, I am actively growing a team around me. I like to say Edit This® handles anything involving the written word, and I have a number of colleagues I partner with from time to time to provide top-notch services. This includes other writers and editors, publishing companies, graphic design artists, website designers, master photographers, marketing agencies, and more. This makes for a full-service product and a happy client.
