New Year, New Content Needs? Add Blogs to Your Writing Strategy

Blogs

For giggles, I went back into my computer files a few weeks ago and counted all the blogs I wrote for my many small-business clients in 2022. There were 522 of them.

My first thought was, "no way!" So I went back and counted again. And then again.

Each time, I got the same wild number – 522.

I shouldn't have been surprised. Granted, that's still an outrageous number. But it's proof that more companies than ever see value in writing blogs. They want to be thought leaders, and they are staying consistent with it ... hence, why I wrote 522 of them!

What's a blog, you ask?

I probably should have started with that. My apologies; I simply liked the opening above much better. Blogs are informational web articles (you're literally reading one right now) businesses use to inform readers, answer prospective client questions, and share everything from tips and tricks to details about their products and services, industry trends, and more.

A few examples of blog ideas would be a fitness pro sharing 5-10 tips on how to lose weight or a roofing company writing advice about what to do after a hail storm.

And the more of them you write, the better.

Over time, blogs award their authors with a lengthy list of benefits:

  1. A clear voice and personality for the business

  2. Better rankings in Google search results

  3. Brand awareness

  4. A spark in engagement among readers

  5. Genuine client relationships

  6. More value-added content for their website

  7. Blogs = more website visitors

  8. Their business is seen as an authority in that industry

  9. Improved insight into what customers want
