How To Find and Create Your Writing Style!
Developing your writing style is one of the most important steps in becoming a confident, compelling writer. After all, your style is what makes everything you write (a blog, your next book, website copy, etc.), and every word and tone you choose, sound like you!
In this class, we’ll break down what “writing style” really means and show you how to shape it with purpose rather than guesswork.
We’ll talk through practical and relatable techniques, examples, and simple exercises that help you understand your natural voice—and strengthen it. My goal is for you to walk away with tools you can use immediately to write more clearly, boldly, and authentically.
What we’ll cover:
What “writing style” actually is (and isn’t)
How to identify elements of your natural voice
Techniques to strengthen clarity, tone, and flow
How to use word choice and rhythm intentionally
Ways to make your writing more authentic and memorable
Simple exercises to develop and refine your style
Why Attend Writing Workshops?

Before I jump into why you should attend, here is a quick programming note: Those who have attended my workshops in the past will notice this upcoming January class is on the third Thursday of the month. Why the switch from the second Thursday of each month?
Don't worry. It's a small scheduling change for January ONLY.
Starting with our February class, we will be back to the second Thursday of each month.
I also want to take a quick second to thank the Seeden CLUB in Argyle for being our gracious hosts for the first 20 classes. You helped get these writing workshops off the ground in 2024 by providing us a home to learn, grow, and build lasting connections. That generosity has not gone unnoticed, and I am forever indebted to you. Thank you again.
And thank you to the Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce for opening your doors to these workshops for 2026. My relationship with this chamber spans seven or eight years. They are like family to me and countless others. Your generosity is also very much appreciated!
Lastly, thank you to PointBank for renewing as a sponsor for all classes in 2026. Thank you for believing in the value of these workshops!
Now, to the why you should attend part ...
You can join any writing group on social media. But in my humble opinion, nothing beats connecting with like-minded people in person. If you live in or around Denton County, we are building a community of writers and writing enthusiasts right here in your own backyard.
This is your chance to meet people with the same interests as you, network, get feedback on what you've been writing, and learn a thing or two from someone who has been in the writing game for nearly three decades.

I've got plenty to share because I've always believed the worst thing any professional writer can do is spend decades perfecting their craft only to keep all those trade secrets, tips, tricks, and life hacks to themselves. We should educate and inspire the next generation, relying on our successes and failures to share what works, what doesn't, and how to steer others in the right direction. It's the reason I wrote my book and started these writing workshops.
For now, these writing workshops are in-person events only. The QR code to register is in the image above, and the cost is $59 per person. The cost covers light snacks, an excellent presentation, Q&A time, and networking.
I will also have copies of my book available for purchase.
Thank you for reading!
