Every topic we discuss in the Steve Gamel Writing Workshops series is fun, educational, and entertaining. But if there's one that continues to stand the test of time and pique everyone's interests, it's when we talk about writing and finishing your first book.

After all, everyone has at least one book in them! That's what I believe, anyway!

So ... back by popular demand, our next workshop will cover everything you need to know to take your book from a fledgling idea to a published book that people will line up to buy.

What: Steve Gamel Writing Workshops

Topic: Tips To Finish Your First Book

When: Thursday, April 9, 2026 (6-7:30 p.m.)

Where: Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce

Cost: $59 per person

Thank you to our sponsor, PointBank.

Let's Finish That FIRST Book!

I've had more than a handful of conversations with aspiring authors since my book, Write Like You Mean It: Mastering Your Passion For The Written Word, was published in 2021. And everyone has said the same thing about writing their own book one day:

"I've been told I need to write a book, but haven't taken the plunge yet."

"I've got two or three books in me, I swear."

"I've got an idea, but I'm unsure if it's book material."

That last statement is a big one. Your book can absolutely inspire, educate, and connect people—but you may be unsure if it's worth writing. Even if you believe in the message or story, you may not know where or how to start, or what steps lie ahead.

I'm not going to lie ... writing a book can be hard. Finishing it is even more of a challenge, as the process alone can stir up doubt, hesitation, and even imposter syndrome.

This class will help you overcome all of that and more.

What we'll be covering:

  • The reasons why people don't start or finish their book.

  • How to overcome those hesitations and obstacles.

  • Where to start when the blank page feels overwhelming.

  • Simple strategies to build writing momentum.

  • Practical tips to organize your thoughts and ideas.

  • How setting realistic goals can help.

  • How a ghostwriter can help.

  • The power of a strong book publishing team.

  • And so much more ...

Why Attend Writing Workshops?

I've always believed the worst thing any professional writer or editor can do is spend decades perfecting their craft only to keep all those trade secrets, tips, tricks, and life hacks to themselves. We should educate and inspire the next generation and each other, relying on our successes and failures to share what works, what doesn't, and how to steer others in the right direction. It's the reason I wrote my book and have started these writing workshops.

For now, these writing workshops are in-person events only. The QR code to register is in the image above, and the cost is $59 per person.

The cost covers light snacks, an excellent presentation, Q&A time, and networking. I will also have copies of my book available for purchase.

I can't wait to see you on April 9.

Thank you for reading!
