I know there are only a few days left in the month, but October is National Book Month! This month-long celebration honors reading, writing, and literature and was created in the early 2000s by the National Book Foundation. They run numerous educational and public programs and help operate the annual National Book Awards, which have recognized William Faulkner, Flannery O’Connor, J.D. Salinger, and other influential authors.

The 77th Annual National Book Awards will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 18. Categories include fiction, nonfiction, poetry, translated literature, and young people’s literature.

Consider Buying Write Like You Mean It

Write Like You Mean It is my personal love letter to writing, writers, and the craft of writing. And yes, it's the perfect gift when you consider it is National Book Month. If you’ve been meaning to check it out, now is the time! Every part of the writing process takes careful thought, and my book covers topics like finding the purpose behind your writing, getting started, and what to do after you finish writing.

Just a few of the topics covered in this book include:

  1. Overcoming your fear of writing

  2. What writer's block is trying to tell you

  3. The importance of active listening

  4. The art of quality storytelling

  5. How to become a successful freelancer

  6. Tips on how to write fiction and nonfiction

  7. How to get published

I genuinely believe in helping you be a better writer tomorrow than you are today! I want to speak to journalists, bloggers, fiction and nonfiction writers, and creative writers. I want to talk to the up-and-comers who aren’t quite sure if they have the chops to write or question if they are brave enough to put their work out there.

Many of you have been part of my journey as a writer, business owner, and published author, and it’s especially meaningful to share my book with you.

If you’ve ever thought about polishing your writing skills, writing professionally, or being more confident in your own voice, I hope Write Like You Mean It gives you something useful.

Thank you for reading!
