I hope everyone is enjoying Christmas with their family and friends. I also hope there's lots of good food on the table, and, of course, plenty of presents under the tree. I certainly don't want to get in the way, so I'm just popping in to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.
As always, thank you for reading, for being a meaningful part of my life each and every day, and, of course, for allowing me to be even a small part of your creative journeys.
I hope your holiday season has been and continues to be filled with joy, peace, and cheer!
Stories Matter on Christmas!
Even on a day meant for family, connection, and rejoicing in all of God's gifts, it’s hard not to notice something familiar at work—especially if you’re a writer:
Stories are everywhere today.
They’re in the memories we retell every year. The traditions we keep. The laughter, the quiet moments, and the people we wish were still sitting at the table. They're also in the faces of our kids, as they eagerly tear through wrapping paper to catch a glimpse of what Santa left for them under the tree. Christmas reminds us that stories don’t just live on the pages of newspapers and magazines—they live in real life, passed from one person to the next.
For my fellow writers out there, this season isn’t about creating more content. Quite the contrary! It’s about paying attention. Listening. Slowing down and being intentional with the precious moments we have with our families, and letting moments unfold without rushing to document them. These are the experiences that eventually shape the stories worth telling.
So today, enjoy the people around you. Be present. Let the stories happen.
Merry Christmas—and as always, stories still matter.
